Pokemon Planet is ont of the newer fanmade Pokemon MMO's that has popularity with the Pokemon fanbase. It boasts and deliverys on graphics that reflect the console games as well as gameplay. Its most popular feature is that it is entirely Browser-Based and playable even on very old machines. I tested this game on an old Linux Netbook using Lubuntu and was surprised at its stability. What makes this game standout is its community, I was surpsied at the kindness I received when I started playing, no chat spam and everyone was talking about different pokemon topics which I was able to join in on. For those looking for a Pokemon MMO this would be my recommended game.

Some of today's greatest games available started off as mods of other games, and Pixelmon is no exception. Pixelmon is a mod available for the game "Minecraft" one of the worlds most popular games. Due to the mods design and the work that's gone into it, many consider this to be the next best thing to a Pokemon MMO from Nintendo. The mod allows for everything you think of in a Pokemon game, catching Pokemon, training them and battling other Pokemon and trainers. The mod has garnished a very large following among Minecraft players and in particular streamers and YouTube content creators making Pixelmon one of the most popular Pokemon themed non-official games around.
PokeGen is a newly known project but have actually been in development for some time. It is a Free Action RPG game that gets its inspiration from both the Pokemon Anime and Game franchises. The game takes place in the Pokemon universe and its story helps bridge the gap between the Red, Blue, Yellow and the Gold,m Silver, Crystal game storylines. Thought not actually an MMO, the game does allow for a degree of Multiplayer interaction which imo would be how an Official Pokemon MMO would really work if it was created. The game is in full 3D and its graphics compared to other pokemon fan-made games is very impressive. The project is live for people to play and is Free-2-Play, and it currently in a live development stages working out bugs and refining the game with regular updates. I would highly recommend that everyone try this game even once to see what its like, in the coming year I expect this game to get very well known in the Pokemon Fan Circles.

Pokemon Cyrus Online is another of the fan created Pokemon MMO's but with its only unique turn and graphics, it has been around since 2007 so its one of the oldest fan creation MMO's. Like other Pokemon Games you can travel the game world capturing Pokemon and battling trainers, gym leaders and other players in both 1v1 and the popular 2v2 battle system. A welcome feature that many players want in a Pokemon MMO is a quest system which this game has adopted and creates new content as the game progresses. Pokemon Cyrus Online combat system has moving graphics for the Pokemon but none of the Pokemon movies but in this combat system they created its actually a good ting, it makes the grand of Pokemon levels alot more efficient and many of the more serious Pokemon players care more for battle statistics than the look of a Pokemon's moves. The game also includes a version of the Pokemon Trading Card Game, you can collect many cards and battle with them as you would in the TCG. A very notable feature of the game is its Guild system which is more focused towards the guilds you would see in modern MMO's, that even allows your Guilds to capture Bases in the game world.

That all changed with the new Mists of Pandaria Expansion and the introduction of Pet Capture and Battles. WoW has always had a mini-pet system but with this new system players could battle other players and wild mini-pets anywhere in Pokemon like pet battles. Your pets grow in levels gain new abilities and can be given renames. The system meant as a side game for many WoW players took off instantly and has been embraced as a new meta game within WoW as important as raiding and PVP. One of the most important aspects of the system is a ability to go search the game world for new pets and battles them as you would in Pokemon, weaken them with your own pets then capture them in cages and stored in your pet collection. The system has also introduced many NPC pet tamers around the game world to battle in quests to gain strength and achievements. In terms of a Pokemon like game, the Pet battle system of World of Warcraft brings you closer than most others

The game has been in production and development for some time and is finally nearing completion. In the words of the developers, the game is a focused collaboration of the wants and needs of the fans of this genre of game, it will be much like Pokemon where you travel a virtual world, capture monsters and customize train and use them in battles with people across the world. MICROMON is the main focus of the players of this genre as it has all the features that the players have been asking for and will be a fully legal and unique game. I highly recommend watching this game as its development is nearing completion, but not as fast as id like it because... I WANT IT YESTERDAY!!!

This game started as PokemonCraft, one of the most popular Fan Pokemon MMO's until it was shutdown due to copyright issues with Nintendo. The game was remade into a new MMO called Monster MMORPG. The game shares most of the functions as PokemonCraft but has taken it a step further. This game does not use any of the trademark Pokemon franchise but has instead developed into a unique game of its own with 100's of creatures like Pokemon, but not Pokemon :). The game has a large community and alot of different functions. It shares similarity's with the Pokemon Gameboy Games we know and love, but this game inst constrained by the limits of thew Pokemon Games but instead builds upon it. The game has a stunning artstyle and imagination when it comes to itsa content, 100's of unique monsters and items and most of all the custom maps, we all loved the old maps of the Pokemon World, but Monster MMORPG desiged all its own custom maps that allow for an even bigger world to explore and catch monsters. I would highly recommend this game to any player looking for an MMO like Pokemon.
